Skill 2 – Small Talk

Small talk refers to short, casual conversations about simple and non-serious topics. It is used to start a conversation, fill silence, or make social interactions more comfortable. Small talk often happens between people who do not know each other well or when meeting acquaintances in informal situations.

Practice 3 – Speaking Practice

Role-play with a partner:
Start a conversation using one of the topics from the table.
Continue the conversation for 4–5 exchanges.
Switch roles and try a different topic.
Example:
A: Hi, have you been to this café before?
B: Yes, I come here every week.
A: The coffee here is really good.
B: I agree, and the desserts are delicious too.
