Skill 1 – Sentence Basics
A sentence is a group of words that expresses a complete thought.In English, the usual word order is: Subject + Verb + Object (SVO).
- Subject: Who or what the sentence is about
- Verb: The action or state of the subject
- Object: Who or what receives the action
Examples:
- ✅ She reads books. (Subject = She, Verb = reads, Object = books)
- ✅ They play football.
- ❌ Reads books. (No subject)
- ❌ She reads. (Correct sentence, but no object — still okay if the verb doesn't need one)
